Billets

At Vijayaa Steels, billets begin their process as pig iron , sponge iron and imported scrap. After thorough assortment of the finest quality, these raw materials are put into an induction furnace in which these materials are heated until molten. Once this process is over, sampling of the molten metal is carried out in a spectrometer , on achieving the desired chemistry this metal is poured into a ladle and continuous purging is done. This ladle is shifted to the ladle furnace for further refining where alloys are added and the desired grade of metal is achieved. Then this ladle is shifted to the caster machine where the billets are casted according to the requirement of our rolling mill or customer, ranging from sizes 100mm2 to 200mm2 . As a special order we also cast rectangles ranging from 170x240 mm2 . When the billets are cooled they are again tested for quality. Need less to say only those that meet our rigid standards make their way to the Rolling Mill or the customers.
